On September 26, Xiaomi (小米) showcased its high-end electric vehicle SU7 Ultra at a launch event in Akihabara, Tokyo, marking the model’s first appearance in Japan. The exhibition runs through September 28, with the release date yet to be set. Xiaomi also announced plans to expand its retail network beyond its two existing stores in Saitama, adding three outlets this year in cities including Chiba, and further extending to Osaka and Nagoya in 2025, with nationwide rollout under consideration. Zheng Yan (郑彦), Vice President of Xiaomi Japan, said the company aims to replicate its China model by selling EVs through smartphone stores, strengthening its push in the Japanese market.
