Bloomberg reported on September 22 that Alibaba Group (阿里巴巴集团) is accelerating AliExpress (全球速卖通) expansion and courting major brands from Amazon to strengthen its position in Europe and Latin America. Sources say AliExpress is offering lower shipping costs and commissions than Amazon, while tapping the brand pipeline of Tmall (天猫). Xiaomi (小米) and Pop Mart (泡泡玛特) are already on the platform. Alibaba previously struggled to build a U.S. marketplace a decade ago, but with steady international growth—and the rise of cross-border rivals Temu and Shein —it aims to broaden its Western footprint.
