Reuters reported on September 22 that BYD (比亚迪) has nearly quadrupled its dealer network in Spain to almost 100, up from 25 last year. Alberto de Aza, General Manager of BYD Spain and Portugal, said EVs were expensive before BYD’s entry. SEAT Acting CEO Markus Haupt noted BYD’s EV market share topped 10% in July—over twice the European average and three times Tesla’s. ANFAC data showed its overall market share rose to 1.8% in August, surpassing Jeep and Volvo. Globally, BYD sold 2.15 million vehicles in the first half with revenue of RMB 371.281 billion (USD 51.1 billion). Overseas sales hit 550,000 units in the first seven months, up 130%, with Europe up 323% to 71,345 units, leading among Chinese brands.
