On September 15, Brazilian President Lula met with Didi (滴滴出行) founder & CEO Cheng Wei (程维) and executives from Didi and its subsidiary 99. At the meeting, 99 announced a BRL 2 billion (CNY 2.6 billion) investment into its food delivery arm 99Food, to be fully implemented by June 2026. Currently operating only in São Paulo and Goiânia, 99Food will expand to 15 cities by year-end and add 20 more by January 2026, accelerating its reach. The move underscores Didi’s deepening commitment to Latin America and highlights the growth potential of Brazil’s food delivery market, where 99Food aims to compete head-on with iFood and Rappi.
