Monmilk, a Chinese leading dairy company, has received its latest ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating from the international authoritative index institution, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). Based on its outstanding performance in the ESG domain, Monmilk has achieved an "AA" rating, making it the highest-rated comprehensive dairy company in China and among the ESG leaders among 77 participating global enterprises in the industry.
In terms of sustainable development, in 2021, Monmilk formulated the GREEN Sustainable Development Strategy, covering environmental, social, and governance aspects, and a climate change strategy to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire industry by 2050. In 2023, Monmilk introduced the "Green Leadership" goal, which aims to drive a reduction of 1 million tons of carbon emissions from partner farms by 2030, achieve industry-leading carbon intensity, implement 100% green circular practices across all farms, improve the health of 1 million mu of soil, transform all of its factories into green factories with 50% renewable clean energy utilization, and ensure a zero-deforestation supply chain in its efforts to lead the green and sustainable transformation of its industry.
In the realm of technological innovation, Monmilk has effectively reduced carbon emissions at the farm level through innovations such as the manure recycling management system and clean energy technologies. They have also improved efficiency and reduced consumption through digitization, making carbon reduction more accessible. Furthermore, their supply chain management has helped decrease deforestation and carbon emissions associated with bulk commodity procurement.
In recent years, Monmilk has continuously improved its management and performance in the field of sustainable development. In 2023, Monmilk has achieved several significant milestones, including three consecutive years as a constituent stock of the Hang Seng Sustainable Development Enterprise Index, ranking third in the SASAC's "Central Enterprise ESG Vanguard 100 Index," inclusion in the inaugural edition of the S&P Global "Sustainable Development Yearbook (China Edition)," and being recognized by S&P Global as the "Best Progress Company in the Industry."
