As a large Li-ion battery solutions provider of China, Sunwoda participates in the EV safety competition actively.
On December 8, 2020, Sunwoda Electronic announces a self-developed “no fire risk” traction battery. The cells pass the safety test without any fire or explosion. According to the record of the test, the traction battery cell cools to 60 degrees Celsius using 67 minutes only.
Founded in 1997, Sunwoda Electronic is a large electronic manufacturing service (EMS) and Li-ion battery solutions provider in China. In recent years, the company has developed a whole lifecycle safety supervision system, and all electronic vehicles with batteries manufactured by the company are under its monitoring. By the end of the year, the number of electronic vehicles that access the system will reach 300,000. Meanwhile, Sunwoda has built a battery big data monitoring and battery safety alert platform. The recognition rate of the system for abnormal aging and thermal runaway can reach 100% and 70% respectively.
In 2020, battery companies around the world are racing against time. In this competition, the development of Chinese enterprises seems faster. In March 2020, BYD launched the Blade Battery to improve the safety of electric vehicles from the perspective of material and system structure. Seven months late, CATL announced a new ternary battery system, which could easily pass the thermal diffusivity test without catching fire.
