A Small Aircraft, a Bigger Bet: How China's Worthy Aero Plans to Scale Up

Horizon Robotics(地平线)said on September 9 that its Journey 6P computing platform has been selected for JD Logistics’(京东物流)sixth-generation Dulang(独狼)Plus L4 autonomous delivery vehicle, extending its automotive chip business into unmanned logistics. The announcement, made at JD’s 2026 Global Tech Explorer Conference, comes as Horizon reports cumulative shipments of more than 15 million chips across its Journey family.

Built on Horizon’s BPU Nash architecture, Journey 6P delivers a stated 560 trillion operations per second from a single chip. The company says it supports Transformer and bird’s-eye-view perception models for driving tasks involving mixed traffic, narrow roads and moving obstacles. Founder and CEO Yu Kai(余凯)said unmanned logistics vehicle deployments in this cooperation scenario could reach one million over the next three to five years. That figure represents a forecast; the announcement did not disclose a committed order volume or deployment schedule.
For the Hong Kong-listed company, the project broadens the potential customer base for technology developed primarily for passenger vehicles. Its Journey portfolio supplies computing hardware for functions ranging from basic driver assistance to more advanced urban driving assistance. Logistics offers another application for that engineering investment, although commercial returns will depend on vehicle production volumes and operators’ ability to run fleets reliably and economically.
Horizon’s relationships with international automakers provide a separate route to expansion. Through Carizon(酷睿程), its joint venture with Volkswagen, it supports advanced driver-assistance systems for the German group’s Chinese business. Volkswagen said in July that Carizon’s L2++ solution had entered series production and would roll out across seven new Volkswagen Group China new-energy models in 2026, with broader deployment on the China Electronic Architecture planned from 2027.
A more direct opening into international vehicle programmes comes through neueHCT(智驾新程). Its HCT Luna front-camera solution, based on Journey 6B, has secured a design win for an unnamed German automotive group’s global passenger-car platform. Production is expected to begin in 2027, with several million units anticipated over three years.
Together, these projects suggest a path for Chinese automotive chip suppliers to expand through logistics operators, component partners and global automaker programmes. Reusing computing technology across applications could spread development costs and support a broader customer base. For Horizon, the next commercial test is converting those selections into sustained production and deliveries, while meeting the distinct requirements of each vehicle platform and market.
