Ant International(蚂蚁国际)has completed a Series A equity financing round of approximately US$1.2 billion to support its global expansion and the development of payment and financial-technology services for businesses.

The Singapore-headquartered company announced the financing on July 21. Existing shareholders including Ant Group(蚂蚁集团)and Alibaba Group(阿里巴巴集团)participated alongside several international investment institutions, whose names were not disclosed.

Ant International said the proceeds would be used to accelerate international growth and strengthen innovation in merchant payments, account management and other inclusive financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises and larger companies. The funding will also support the company's investment in technologies including artificial intelligence.

Ant International became an independently operated company following a reorganisation of Ant Group in 2024. It now runs four main businesses: Alipay+, a cross-border mobile-payment gateway; Antom, which provides payment services to merchants; WorldFirst, a cross-border business-account platform; and Bettr, its embedded-finance business.

The financing gives Ant International additional resources to expand in a market where payment providers must build local partnerships, obtain regulatory approvals and adapt their compliance systems to different jurisdictions. These requirements make cross-border payments a capital-intensive business even when the underlying services are delivered digitally.

The round also reflects growing demand for payment infrastructure that supports international e-commerce, travel and small-business trade. Ant International's ability to turn the new capital into sustainable growth will depend on its execution across individual markets and its compliance with local financial regulations.
