On April 27, during Investor Day, William Lu (卢伟冰), President of Xiaomi Group (小米集团), unveiled the comprehensive globalization strategy for Xiaomi EV (小米汽车).

He reaffirmed the principle of "stabilizing the domestic market first before expanding overseas." Xiaomi (小米) has locked in a delivery target of 550,000 units for the full year of 2026, all of which are earmarked for the Chinese market. Building on this foundation, Xiaomi (小米) plans to officially launch its global expansion in the second half of 2027, with Europe selected as the first destination. This will be followed by an entry into right-hand drive (RHD) markets, including Southeast Asia, in the first half of 2028. William Lu (卢伟冰) emphasized that Xiaomi’s (小米) strategy will mirror its success in the smartphone sector: "starting with high-end models and prioritizing developed markets."

To support this ambitious plan, Xiaomi (小米) initiated global automotive market research in February 2025. The findings indicated high acceptance of leading Chinese automakers among overseas users and strong existing brand recognition for Xiaomi (小米). Technically, the Xiaomi (小米) Europe R&D Center has begun specialized tuning for local driving conditions, such as high-speed unrestricted Autobahns. Furthermore, Xiaomi (小米) intends to export its unique "Human x Car x Home" smart ecosystem and digital marketing model. The company is also building a global delivery and logistics network by recruiting top-tier talent, such as recently hired former Tesla (特斯拉) executive Dieter Lorenz.

At the ongoing 2026 Beijing Auto Show (2026北京车展), the Xiaomi (小米) pavilion has once again become a major focal point. The two current models, the SU7 and the YU7 (SUV), along with the newly debuted Vision GT concept car, have drawn massive crowds. To date, Xiaomi EV’s (小米汽车) cumulative 24-month delivery volume has surpassed 655,000 units, with the YU7 alone reaching 231,000 units just 10 months after its launch. This "Xiaomi Speed" demonstrated in the domestic market provides a solid foundation for the brand to challenge the heartland of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles in Europe by 2027.
