On March 31, WeRide (文远知行), a global leader in autonomous driving technology, and international mobility giant Uber announced the official launch of fully driverless Robotaxi commercial operations in Dubai. This marks the deployment of the first batch of publicly operated, fully driverless Robotaxi fleets in the city, supporting Dubai’s strategic "Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy" to automate 25% of all mobility journeys by 2030.

Currently, WeRide (文远知行) stands as the only company outside the United States providing fully driverless Robotaxi services on the Uber platform.

With the endorsement of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the commercial service has initially rolled out in the popular coastal tourist districts of Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. Passengers can hail a ride via the "Autonomous" category within the Uber App. Tawasul, a prominent fleet operator in the UAE, serves as the local service partner for WeRide’s (文远知行) fleet on the Uber platform, providing essential fleet management services.

Previously, WeRide (文远知行) initiated public Robotaxi operations in Dubai in December 2025 and secured a fully driverless operational license from the RTA in February 2026. This license permits the company to deploy its fully autonomous fleet across multiple busy transportation, logistics, and commercial hubs in Dubai, including Dubai Silicon Oasis and Al Hamriya Port.
