On May 16, Changan Auto's Thailand Rayong Plant—Chongqing's first overseas new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing facility—officially commenced production on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. As the most advanced NEV factory in Southeast Asia, the plant represents an investment of approximately 10 billion baht (2 billion yuan) and establishes a standardized system covering lean manufacturing, global R&D, and supply chain management. This initiative provides a replicable "China solution" for production capacity deployment under the Belt and Road Initiative, marking Changan's transition from product exports to industrial expansion overseas.

"Under our 'Ocean Expansion' strategy, Changan has adopted a three-phase approach—product exports, brand globalization, and industrial overseas expansion—with the Rayong Plant serving as a milestone," said Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile. As Changan's first overseas NEV production base, the Rayong Plant integrates 41 years of automotive manufacturing expertise with localized operations. Spanning approximately 300 hectares, the facility features five core workshops—welding, painting, assembly, engine assembly, and battery assembly—with automation levels reaching 90% at key quality control stations.

At the inauguration ceremony, Zhu emphasized, "We adhere to long-termism and localization, striving to make the Rayong Plant a global benchmark for Changan. Committed to 'In Thailand, For Thailand,' we will actively fulfill social responsibilities by creating jobs, contributing tax revenue, and boosting local supply chains. Over the next three years, Changan will introduce 12 new NEV models in Southeast Asia, generate over 30,000 jobs across Thailand's industrial chain, and enhance local NEV certification capabilities through technical support."

Currently, Changan has launched seven NEV models in Thailand, including the Deepal S07 and Avatr 11. The localization rate of its Thai production has reached 40%, making Changan the first automaker to pass Thailand’s 56-2562 raw material certification, qualifying for tax incentives.
