World Premiere! Smokeless explosion-proof valve for power batteries reshapes safety boundaries
In order to strengthen the quality and safety of power batteries, in May 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People‘s Republic of China revised the mandatory safety standards issued in 2020, and issued the Safety Requirements for Power Storage Batteries Used in Electric Vehicles (Exposure Draft), which is expected to be formally implemented in July 2026. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the revision mainly adds new test items such as battery bottom impact test and safety test after fast charging cycle, strengthens safety requirements such as thermal diffusion, and raises the alarm of power battery fire and explosion 5 minutes before to no fire or explosion, and no visible smoke enters into the passenger compartment before the alarm signal of thermal event is sent out, and within 5 minutes after the alarm signal of thermal event is sent out. This reduces the incidence of power battery spontaneous combustion accidents from the product design end, and further protects the lives and properties of consumers.
