Avatar (Chinese:阿维塔科技) and Huawei further deepened their cooperation on the basis of the previous trilateral cooperation between Changan Automotive, Huawei and CATL. This round of cooperation adheres to the principle of risk and income sharing, as well as the expenses for Huawei HI (Huawei Inside)’s trademark authorization.

Launched in May 2021, Avatar Technology, previously known as Changan NIO, is a high-end intelligent electric vehicle brand under the Chinese automaker Changan Automotive.

Avatar develops the EV model which is fully equipped with Huawei’s full-stack HI intelligent vehicle solution. It is also based on the technology platform CHN, which Changan, Huawei, and CATL allegedly developed together. Through adopting self-construction and franchise models, Avatar plans to open outlets in 110 cities in China in this year.

Huawei is responsible for the development of the self-driving and smart cockpit software systems, while CATL provides the power battery technologies.

Despite not holding stake in the automaker, as a strategic partner, Huawei is comprehensively involved in Avatar’s technology development, according to Tan Benhong, the chairman and chief executive of Avatar.

In April 2022, Avatar has completed the first round of capital addition and share expansion. The new round of valuation of Avatar increased to 62.6 CNY billion.

Avatar is currently dedicated to promoting its Series-A funding to go public independently in order to lure more strategic partners with diversified backgrounds.
