The launch of Han EV, BYD’s flagship sedan, marked an important step of its expansion plan in the Americas, and also laid the foundation for channel development in the local market.

BYD’s best-selling Han EV officially landed in the Brazilian market with a suggested retail price of BRL 539,990 (USD 110,705).

So far, Han EV has already made its debut in other Latin American countries such as Colombia, Uruguay, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.

Han EV is a four-wheel-drive and high-performance flagship sedan, with a comprehensive NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) battery life of 550 kilometers and a 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds.

With the launch of the Han EV in Brazil, BYD will further increase its visibility in the local passenger car market. Specifically, the Chinese EV leader partners with several famous local car dealers to distribute its products.

By the end of this year, BYD Brazil is expected to deploy Han EV, among other all-electric passenger vehicles from BYD, to 45 major Brazilian cities with the help of dealers. The carmaker plans to have 100 designated dealers by the end of 2023.

In addition to BYD, several Chinese EV brands are also making a foray into overseas markets. XPeng, for example, recently added a DTC (direct-to-consumer) store and unveiled the price tag for its P5 sedan in Copenhagen, Denmark, after another two stores opened earlier in the Netherlands and Sweden. Other competitors such as Nio and Li Auto are also eyeing a bigger market share globally.
