The Shenzhen-based chip designer CVA Chip finished bagged over CNY 100 million (USD 15 million) in Series A from an investor group consisting of auto OEMs.

Founded in 2018, CVA Chip has specialised in intelligent sensing and computing control, which mainly targeted the smart terminal markets such as autos, IoT and smart phones.

The company's products include auto microcontroller units (MCU), video decoding processors-'Scaler', 5G Specific Absorption Rate chips and TWS Touch chips. Five chips has already been in the massive production phrase so far.

MCU has benefited from the smartlization of NEVs, becoming a major category of processors equipped in a car. At present, the the global MCU market is mainly monopolized by foreign chip giants such as Infineon, NXP, Renesas Electronics, TI.

The serious shortage of auto chips under the epidemic situation of COVID-19, along with the tight production capacity and soaring prices, has prompted Chinese chip designers to enter the space.

CVA Chip dabbed in the auto semiconductor trajectory in 2021, with a focus on the body domain, cockpit domain, chassis domain and intelligent driving domain.

The company has collaborated with dozens of OEMs and Tier1 suppliers, and signed strategic cooperation agreements with top-notch companies such as Jingwei Hirain and Neusoft Reach.
