Tesla Launches New Data Center in China to Alleviate Security Concerns

The American EV maker has built a data center, with plans to expand its data storage network in China.

On May 25, Tesla announced that it has established its first data center in China and is planning to gradually increase the local capacity. According to the statement, all the data generated by the vehicles sold in China will be stored within the country. 

At the same time, the company will open an information platform for Tesla owners. On May 6, an insider disclosed that Tesla is developing a platform enabling customer queries related to vehicle-related data, which is expected to be launched in 2021.

A wave of concerns around Tesla's data collection mechanisms has been growing in China, with several ongoing investigations being run by the state regulators.
