As Moore's Law approaches physical limits, Chiplet has become increasingly important thanks to its high performance, low power consumption, high area utilization, and low-cost advantages.

Recently, PhySim (Chinese: 芯瑞微), a Chinese EDA company specializing in physics simulation, harvested tens of millions of CNY in series A+, led by Casstar (Chinese: 中科创星).

Fengliang Capital (Chinese: 风量资本) served as the company’s exclusive financial advisor. The proceeds will be mainly used for the expansion of R&D teams, industrial integration and company mergers and acquisitions.

Established at the end of 2019, PhySim focuses on EDA physics simulation and develops a multi-physics simulation platform that integrates electromagnetic, electro-thermal, direct current, magnetic loss, stress, fluid and other functional modules, to further fill the gap in domestic system simulation.

The company can also provide customers with one-stop solutions including wafer packaging design, foundry services, design services for IC test versions, and advanced packaging design services.

The capacity shortage of advanced manufacturing processes, coupled with global tensions, has accelerated the development of the Chiplet technology. According to Omdia, the global Chiplet market is expected to reach USD 5.8 billion by 2024, and USD 57 billion by 2035. The explosion of Chiplet technology has unleashed opportunities for EDA companies.

EDA is one of the weakest points of China's semiconductor industry, and the degree of localization is even lower than that of semiconductor equipment and materials. For the IC design industry, EDA is no less important than photolithography for advanced manufacturing processes.
