Korean market research institute SNE Research published ranking list of 2022 Q1 top 10 global power battery installed units. The overall growth of the industry is good, and the top ten still have monopoly effect. Chinese enterprises shown strong growth momentum, takes the share from Japan and Korea.
The statistics of SNE Research, a Korean market research institute shows that in Q1 of 2022, the total amount of global power battery units installed is 95.1 GWh, upraised YoY of 93.3%. Battery companies ranks top 10 occupies over 90% of market share, and the rest battery companies have no more than 10%.
Seen from the list, China, Korea and Japan are still major producers of power battery, the global productive capacity almost monopolized by the companies in the list. Among the top 10 manufacturers of power batteries, there are as many as 6 Chinese battery companies. Korean battery companies have three seats; Panasonic is the only Japanese company on the list.
Notably, six Chinese enterprises showed rapid growth momentum, all of them with an increase of more than 100%. BYD has the best increase performance, the number of installed units is 10.5GWh, with an increase rate of 220.4% came to the third place of the list. CALB（Chinese: 中创新航）also has a good performance, with 4.2GWh total installed units and 208.7% increase rate. Gotion high-tech achieved 2.6GWh of installed units with an increase rate of 180%.
As for Japanese and Korean enterprises, SK On achieved 141.9% increase rate, LG, Panasonic and Samsung all have double-digits gains. The market share even has a notable decline, LG dropped the most, for 6.2%.
The statistics shown on the list reflects Chinese power battery enterprise’s strong performance. Whereas there are still factors worth concerning, apart from the gradual shrinking space for technical development, cost control will be a tough question placed in front of the firms.
