The house of Commons of the British Parliament passed the bill proposed by the British government to unilaterally amend part of the "Northern Ireland Protocol", which pushed the bill to the next stage of the legislative process. The bill was passed with 295 votes in favor and 221 votes against, but was severely criticized by many conservative and opposition members, including former Prime Minister Theresa May. Theresa May and other critics believe that the plan to amend the Northern Ireland protocol is illegal and may trigger a trade war with the EU.
