Twitter is no longer responsible for protecting user generated content in India due to its failure to comply with the country's new it rules, the government said in a court filing on July 5. This is the first time India's modi government has officially announced that Twitter has lost its content immunity. Earlier, the Indian government repeatedly criticized twitter for not complying with the new it rules. The dispute between twitter and the Indian government has raised concerns that US companies will find it difficult to do business in India as the regulatory environment becomes more stringent.
